1. Evaluating Data
2. Evaluating and Correcting Thinking
Consider the care for Ms. Garcia last week, that you delegated to the LPN/LVN and the CNA. Determine what data you will collect after the nursing interventions have been provided to evaluate the effectiveness of the care that has been delegated. What should you do if you determine the care provided by the LPN/LVN and the CNA was unacceptable?
Reflect on:
Evaluating thinking = critical for safe patient care and growth as a nurse
This is the step you must be intentional and think about your thinking!
What thinking skills were used? Were they effective?
Were the outcomes what was expected?
If not, were the outcomes acceptable or perhaps better than expected?
If the outcomes were not acceptable, what might be done differently in the future?
How did the thinking impact all the people affected (pt, significant other, other healthcare providers, etc)?
Was the impact positive or negative?
Think about a clinical experience where you have had to make a decision about patient care. If you do not have an experience, think about previous class scenarios. Refer to the word document posted for this week's in class activity to answer the questions regarding your experience.
