The Core- The core produces most of the suns energy (nuclear fusion). The mass turns to energy which creeps outward.
The Radiation Zone- Area with tightly packed gas. Due to it's thickness it can take 100,000 years for energy to move through this zone.
The Convection Zone- Outter layer of the sun's interior. Hot gas rises then drops after cooling down.
The Photosphere- Inner layer of the suns atmosphere. This is what you see when you look at the sun (due to thickness).
The Chromosphere- The middle of the sun's atmosphere. Appears red during a total solar eclipse.
The Corona- Outter layer of the sun's atmosphere. This is where solar wind occurs. Appears white during a total solar eclipse.
Sunspots- Darks spots on the outside of the sun. Not as hot so there for not bright areas.
Promineces- A area with many sunspots with gas creating a loop around the area.
Solar Flares- Lots of magnetic energy being released. Creating gas extending out from the sun.
Solar Wind- Effect from solar flare. Big gushes of wind. Solar wind can effect earths magnetic field.
