Summary of Maleficent
Maleficent[2014] directed by Robert Stromberg and set in Moors(fairy kingdom) and the kingdom of humans, is about Maleficent's[Angelina Jolie] backstory and how when she was a child/teen she met and fell in love with Stephan[Sharlo Copley] and how he betrayed her, which is why when Aurora[Elle Fanning] is born Maleficent curses her with a curse that can only be broken with true love's kiss which she belives does not exist because of Stephan, but she soon realizes that she regrets it and must find a way to undo the curse that will last till the end of time.

The Inciting incident is when Stephan takes Maleficent's wings in an effort to become king.

The midpoint of Maleficent is when she decides to undo the curse, but can not because when she cast it she said "This curse will last till end end of time, no power in the world can save her." So she must find another way to save Aurora from the endless sleep.

What I thought
I highly enjoy Maleficent every time I watch it it has great pacing and story. In terms of being cliche it's a retelling of the orignal Slepping Beauty[Disney] but from a new perspective so it's hard to say, it's a fresh look of the villan's backstory, but also a similar story(with a slightly different ending, Maleficent doesn't die) so it's hard to say, but I think it's more orignal than you might think, it shows Maleficent's and Aurora's reltionship and other things that Sleeping Beauty doesn't.
