- I hope to learn more about the least visited continent on earth, see some of the most gorgeous hard to visit views while withstanding the harsh antarctic conditions. Stepping out of my boundaries and coming back with my fulfillment of adventure that inspired the explorers and great Ernest Shackleton to explore the frozen desert.
- Travelling to Antartica is a journey in its own. Beginning in Anchorage I will have to go through Seattle, New York, then to Punta Arenas, Chile. From Chile I will fly a private charter operator to the scientific region of Antarctica and staying at the Chilean Villa Las Estrellas Base on King George Island at the western tip of Antarctica.
- The total for the round trip flight from Anchorage to Puerto Arenas, Chile is $2,061
- From Chile I would have to book through a private charter that for my landing site on King George would be around $1300 one way
-Totalling to around $4700 to get to my destination.
Chilean Villa Las Estrellas Base on King George Island, in summer reaching populations of 100 people. Reaching heights of 23 degrees in the summer with brutal winters you still get an authentic Antarctic experience. Late October is the best season for travel and the time that most of the town is operable, the Polestar hotel, the only hostel in the city is around $4800 for 2 weeks.

Antarctica's harsh weather conditions even in the summer is still extremely cold and requires lots of winter gear. Ice hiking boots, and other hiking/climbing gear is needed. Most Itineraries say to plan to spend around $8,000 between new/rented gear.
- Travel: $4,700
- Hotel: $4,800
- Exploring: $10,000
- Gear: $8,000
- Food: $1,250
- Misc: $500
Total Cost: $29,250 for 2 weeks
I consider my pilgramige to be epic because it is difficult to embark, being the least visited continent on earth with extreme cold conditions and savage land. The pilgramage requires lots of planning, preparation, and a lot could go wrong that could cause the trip to fail because of how unpredictable this land is. Risking around $30,000 for this epic journey.
