We are a chapter of the American Red Cross at Ardrey Kell High School and we work to serve our community through service and leadership. Our goal is to encourage community members to actively participate in various community service activities. We strive to make an impact on our local community through several service projects such as canned food drives and making fleece blankets.

A discourse comminity is a group of people who interersted or affected by a literacy topic.
The Discourse community of our club would be people in the club, our teacher coordinator, and people affected by our acts
I fall within this discourse community because I was a club member and officer of the club for 3 years and a president for 1. This puts me in a common discourse community of other officers and other club members.

Freshman/Sophmore Year
Topic 3
My first year being a part of RedCross at Ardrey Kell High School was exciteful because not only did we do a lot of community service and donations but we also hosted events. One event that I very much looked forward to was the Senior Citizen Prom which was going to be held at the end of the year. We unfortunatally did not get to host it in that year due to last minute changes of plans but we did get to host it during sophmore year homecoming week. I wasnt an officer during the start of the freshman year but since one of the officers had to take emergency leave and I was next in line for being an officer next year, I got promoted to that position since I was the most involved in the club and stayed in that position throughout freshman and sophmore year.
Junior year/Final year
Topic 4
My last year being a part of RedCross was the best year but also the most stressfull because it was during the covid pandamic. Junior year I was the club president so there was a lot of responsibility on me on organizing events but also keeping the safety of club members and others in mind. It was very difficult to find ways to give back to the community. We organized a mask drive to give back to the local clinics and flecee blankets to the local harvest center to keep everyone comfortable and safe. Later in the year when everything started to open up we also did a can drive. Being a part of RedCross gave me leadership skills and allowed me to be a better member of the community.
