Jackson was elected the seventh President of the United States in 1828. Known as "President of the People," Jackson destroyed the Second Bank of the United States, formed the Democratic Party, championed individual liberty, and enacted policies that led to the forced migration of his Native Americans.
Jackson laid the framework for democracy, paid off the national debt, gained new lands for America, strengthened relationships with foreign nations globally and issued a new currency. I heard he supported slavery though.
Well as economic success, Jackson also had success in other sectors. One of Jackson's major accomplishments in foreign relations was his negotiated trade agreement with Great Britain which opened America trade to Canada and the British West Indies. Was a really good president
Major general in the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans. In 1824 some state political factions rallied around Jackson; by 1828 enough had joined “Old Hickory” to win numerous state elections and control of the Federal administration in Washington.
