- the obligations of public and private lives are conflicting

- value systems emerge around our roles and since multiple roles are common, multiple value systems emerge as well (Banton)

- as our inner codes increase so do the conflicts in choices which lead us in different directions
- the more organizatioms we are apart of the more conflicted we become
- executive positions involve complex morality and the higher up one goes the harder it is to act responsibly
- it is possible to honor all codes and all jobs using moral creativity
