John Henry Thompson was born on June 15th, 1959 to parents Walter and Mabel Thompson. When he was young he lived in Jamaica. When he became 5 he rejoined with his parents in England. Then at the age of 12 him and his entire family moved to Brooklyn, New York. He went to Bronx High School of science in New York. Then he went to MIT to get a Bachelor´s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering with a minor in visual arts and design.
Career
- After leaving MIT with a bachelor's degree, John Henry Thompson employed at Macromedia in 1987.
- His goal was to gain enough knowledge and experience to create his own coding language.
- While there, he worked on TheVideoWork Accelerator, VideoWorks 2, and the Macromedia Director.
Career
- Thompson held the position of Chief Scientist, the highest position available at Macromedia.
Software
- His main software was the Macromedia Director.
- The Macromedia Director allowed users to create multiple types of displays on one program.
- Thompson also created flash programs that are used in things from video games to animation.

Lingo Scripting Language
This language is used for making user interfaces, manipulate different kinds of graphics (raster, vector, and 3D computer graphics).
In Lingo, there are 3 different types of scripts:
Behavior - control a sprite´s property and movement
Movie - control overall aspects of the project
Parent - used to create or destroy and object at any time.

What does he do now?
In the years to come following his departure from Macromedia John Henry Thompson is now working on writing IPhone apps, EP Visual Design, and is also doing yoga.
