I'm sure you have all heard of Snapchat. If you haven't heard of Snapchat, its basically an online platform where you can add other users and send a picture (snap) to them. You can also text, use filters, send videos, post to your stories, etc.
Snapchat was founded on September, 16, 2011. Just a year after launching, Snapchat hit 10 million users. The app is still currently used and popular today.
The app Snapchat was founded by two men named Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy. Snapchat Headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California. Spiegel and Murphy worked together simultaneously for several months before launching Snapchat.
On Snapchat, you can send pictures, text, use filters, turn your location on and off through snap maps, make a bitmoji, send a bitmoji sticker to someone, scan a snap code, post to both a public story and a private story, and more. On top of all of that, Snapchat keeps streaks, which is how long you have snapped someone for days in a row. It also keeps snapscore, which is how many times you have sent a snap, received a snap and posted to your story.
Snapchat has both pros and cons, as does everything. In just a moment we can look at what those are.
Snapchat is an easy, reliable way of chatting with people. You can chat very easily and its fun. You can post to your story and customize who is on your story. It is an easy way of communication. You can post things to your story like, "I am going to the ODR at 4:00 pm, does anyone want to come?" Snapchat is a very great way of comminicating.
Snapchat can become a little "toxic" at times. Things can happen, for an example, Cyber Bullying. Cyber Bullying is very common on Snapchat and it shouldn't be. Sometimes its better to be off of Snapchat than on it. For people, Teenagers, specifically, it can be bad for your mental health. It has led to lots of over thinking and negativity among teenagers specifically.
Social networks are a great platform for communicating. It is easy to communicate with your friends and its reliable. Sometimes its not always good. Cyber Bullying, Inappropriate use and violent things happen on social networks. Its not always positive, that is why there is always an age minimum, for an example, Snapchat's age minimum is 13 years old. We have to understand that for some people being off social media is better than being on it. Just try to stay positive and keep negative things to yourself
