Be part of the change

Be a great Human

Making a Difference

for Years 4 to 6

2: Organise them in order of importance.

We always need to think of ways to keep healthy and safe

Be healthy, be safe…

1: Can you name ways in which you can stop the spread of germs?

Think about all the things you do during the day to help you.

1: Think about why you have chosen this order.

2: Does the order change for different people?

Think about jobs, age, current illnesses

3: Create a

rap

Create a rap song that will motivate people to remember how to stay healthy and safe.

• Use this backing track or choose your own https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8jYv55gkHg

• Record yourself and upload your raps to Teams to spread health, not germs!

Be a great Human

This is a time for us to think of others and reflect on all the good we do by just caring and considering the feels of friends and family.

Think of someone you or your family know that is isolated

Thinking of someone

Take a moment to reflect on their feelings with someone in your house

How might they be feeling?

Write them a letter or an email. You could include a limerick, jokes or a picture.

Think about what kinds of things the person likes.

Contact them

At the end of your letter maybe you could invite them to reply to you.

Family and Friends

Use the internet to research the ways leaving on electronic devices impact environment

The World

Create a tally chart to show how many devices and lights are left on when not in use and record the time when it happens

Tally

If you have a SMART meter you see how much energy is used by the devices you are recording.

Smart Meter

Make a

change

• Use the information from both your tally chart and research to come up with ways to remind the people in your household to SWITCH OFF.

E.g.: Posters or signs to leave near switches with ‘Did you know…?’ facts on them.

Be a Sculptor

During school we have discussed a lot about how plastic is impacting the animals that live in the ocean.

• Close your eyes and imagine you are a sea creature. What can you see? Feel? Hear?

1: Imagine

Now, imagine your habitat is being filled with lots of single use plastics and rubbish. Now what can you see? Feel? Hear?

2: Oh No!

Design and make a sea creature using recycled materials and single use plastics.

3: Create

Pop a photo onto TEAMS and we can create a recycled gallery.

4: Photo

Be Carbon Cool

Due to social distancing and people travelling a lot less there have reports that the levels of pollution across the world have dropped.

Include key before and after facts

Vlog

• Using the internet to help you research, come up with your own ‘Attenborough style’ vlog that will document these environmental changes.

Incorporate a range of sources and research (E.g.: Look at a variety of countries)

Tip: You could use video editing programs like iMovie, Magisto or Windows Movie Maker.

Spend some time watching the garden; what can you spot? Are there new colours? Sounds? Smells?

Spring is a great opportunity to focus on the changes occurring in our gardens and green spaces.

Be Green

How does it feel to focus on the natural world?

Have a go at creating your own eco-friendly seed bombs

It is important we look after our minds as well as our bodies, in such a busy world it is always a good idea take a few moments to centre ourselves

Be

Peaceful

How do you relax, and find your peace, without any distractions?

What do you do?

Use the link below to do some guided mediation to "refresh your senses"

3: Once you have collected you water data, use it to inform how you could make positive changes in your household

The Year 8 introduced us to idea of being water wise with their assembly and of the Earth Keeper's focus this term was all about saving water. What can you do at home?

Be water

wise

2: Come up with a way to accurately record this information

5: Keep an eye on how your water usages changes over the course of the week. If you a smart water meter that may help.
