TUAK BERAS

  • Typically Tuak is made of a kind of rice called "Rice Rice".
  • The rice will be soaked in water in the jar or known as "Tajau"
  • The process will take at least two weeks before it can be drunk
  • Tuak will be served at certain celebrations such as dayak day celebration, gawai antu, gawai burung and so on

Tuak NIPA/COCON

  • produced from tapping the coconut / nipah
  • Mayan coconut or nipah if left to be fruit, will be cut and sweet water dripping from the cut bunch will be collected
  • This water is known as a potable water that can be drunk without alcohol

  • type of alcoholic beverage
  • popular among indigenous or Bumiputera
  • For the people of Kelantan, the word tuak refers to nira, a drink produced from coconut mayonnaise whose sugar content has not been changed to alcohol
  • In Malaysia there are two types of tufts known as rice bran, coconut palm and “tuak nipah”.

  • One of the traditional cake
  • Always available for certain occasions such as the Congregation, Happy Thanksgiving Council and others
  • Some have sold and made as a commercial in the business

"SARANG SEMUT"

  • Popular known as "kuih jala"
  • It is know as "kih sarang semut" or literaly translated as "The Ants Nest"
  • "kuih sarang semut" is one of important food to serve during Gawai Dayak celeberation

"CUAN"

  • Rosebud or "Cuan" nickname for the Iban community of Mold
  • This cake name also varies by region
  • Always on Gawai Day celebrations
  • Even on Christmas Eve, this cake is always served to guest

  • The food uses a bamboo known as a “ruas” is repackaged inside it
  • Chicken is inserted into bamboo (ruas)
  • These pans are suitable for eating with white rice
  • The origin of ayam pansuh is unknown
  • Ibans and the Bidayuhs from western Borneo always prepare this dish during festivals

"KASAM IKAN IBAN"

"KASAM IKAN IBAN"

  • an orange-flavored food that is loved by others
  • it is the second best known orange meal.
  • many fish can be picked up like the picture above before it becomes orange
  • the fish will be marinated with certain herbs for a month

"PANSUH IKAN"

  • This is called by "Pansuh Ikan"
  • this is one of Iban favourite food
  • Iban community always eat this dish in any time they want
  • But it can be special dish that Iban community made when Gawai Dayak is coming

  • Terung Asam is primarily used in fish soups, curries and sauces
  • The fruits are sometimes used as a substitute for tamarind, because they offer a similar sour flavor.
  • used in asam pedas, or sour/spicy fish dishes
  • The fruits are also used to make sambal

CONCLUSION

Every race have different and uniqueness of tradisional food. By promoting this tradisional food we can tell the other people about our tradisional food. Beside, we also can influence the other people espeacially tourist that come to our country. This would have positive impact on the food business and tourism industry in Sarawak and Malaysia.
