The Downfall of Macbeth
The Witches Meet with Macbeth and Banquo and give them predictions on their life, this starts Macbeth's downfall.
This was the first of the predictions for Macbeth, this one had already happened though as Macbeth was currently the Thane of Glamis.
This is the second prediction given by the witches to Macbeth, This one happens almost immediately after he recives the 3 predictions.
This is the third prediction given to Macbeth, this made him very intriguied as the other 2 have already happened. He knows it may happen if he does nothing but instead he chooses to rush into it...
Almost Immediately after he recives the predictions from the witches, he recives news from Ross that the King is going to make him the thane of Cawdor. Ross tells Macbeth that the traitor will be killed and Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor.
After becoming the Thane of Cawdor Macbeth sent a letter to his wife telling him about the witches and how he will become king.
Macbeth started to rethink about killing the king but his wife wanted him to do it so she could be the queen, she says that he's scared of killing the King and pressures him into doing it.
After being persuaded by his wife, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth planned to get the king's guards drunk and ring a bell to signify that the guards are out and to kill Duncan. They went through with the plan with Lady Macbeth getting the guards drunk and Macbeth stabbing the king with a dagger as he slept, they then planted the dagger in the hands of the guards.
After the murder Macbeth and Lady Macbeth change into their night clothes and go to sleep, but Macbeth cannot say amen because of guilt.
After the Porter scene Macduff and Lennox find Macbeth and talk about the king and if he's still sleeping, Macbeth says he hasn't come out yet. Macduff goes to find the king but finds his dead body, when Lennox and Macbeth go to investigate Macbeth kills the 2 guards.
After they find the dead body of Duncan his 2 sons, Malcolm and Donalbain flee to England and Ireland which raised suspicion on them. After Malcolm the next choice for King was Macbeth who was crowned at Scone. But due to his suspicions Macduff doesn't come to the crowning.
Macbeth knows that Banquo knows about the witches' predictions and would get suspicious, so he orders a hit on Banquo and Fleance with 3 murderers.
The 3 murderers all waited for Banquo near his Castle and then cornered him and fought Banquo and Fleance. While Banquo was being murdered he yelled "O treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly!
Thou mayst revenge—O slave!" which gave Fleance enough warning to escape and live.
After the murder Macbeth had a feast where he had a seat reserved for Banquo, just as everyone arrived and was seated the murderers came to give Macbeth the news that the murder was done, but Fleance managed to escape. This angered Macbeth but he still was going to go through with the feast, Ross asks Macbeth to sit down and to grace them with his royal company but he sees the table as full but the person sitting in his seat is the ghost of Banquo. Macbeth argues with him and Lady Macbeth tries to say that Macbeth has had visions since he was a kid.
Late in Act 3 we receive the news that Macduff has fled to England to meet with Malcom to try to return peace to Scotland.
Macbeth approaches the witches seeking help with keeping his kingship secure, they make a potion with many horrendous things to summon visions for Macbeth to see.
The first apparition appears and says "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff! Beware the Thane of Fife! Dismiss me. Enough." (Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 81-83) This is a warning to beware of Macduff.
The second apparitions tells Macbeth
"Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth." (Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 88-92) This apparation warns Macbeth that he can only die to someone who was not born of woman.
The last of the three apparation which told Macbeth "Be lion-mettled, proud, and take no care Who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against him." (Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 103-107) This tells Macbeth he cannot die until Birnam Wood reaches Dunsinane Hill.
After Macbeth recieves his apparitions from the witches he decideds he is going to order the murder of Macduff's wife and children to get him back for planning against him. He sends the same murderers that killed Banquo to kill the family of Macduff.
The English army led by Malcom and Macduff reach Birnam Wood and cut down branches and trees to disguise themselves as the reach Dunsinane. But with them bringing the wood it fulfills the 3rd apparation and scares Macbeth as only 1 of the appartions are protecting him now, He can only die of someone not born of woman. Young Siward finds Macbeth and they fight, he puts up a good fight but ends up dying to Macbeth.
Macbeth realized he needs to fight his way out to escape, completly relying on the 2nd apparition he fights through the men until he reaches the courtyard of his castle where he is found by Macduff who fights him, the fight lasts a long time but Macduff cuts off Macbeth's head on the top of a staircase. This is the end of his downfall with his reign ending.
