The Blitz
When world war 1 ended Germany had to pay £6,000,000 to countries around the world so a man called Adolf Hitler said he could make Germany great again. Nevvile
Chamberlin (England's Priminister) gave Hitler some papers to sign to make sure he wasn't doing anything wrong after that Hitler ripped up the papers and invaded Poland Nevvile said if he doesn't give back Poland at 11 o'clock they will declare war on Germany
World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted
During world war 2 there war an event called the Blitz; it originates from a german phrase 'Blitz Krieg' which means lightning war. It was when german bombers flew over London and some other rich cities and dropped thousands of bombs . Did you know that the german air force destroyed one third of London! To avoid getting hurt they bought many different types of shelters . When the bombers came a siren would ring to tell everyone to get in their shelters .When it was over an all clear siren rang and everyone would get out and carry on with what they were doing. Winston Churchill ,England's priminister made amazing devises to stop planes such as barrage balloons which would make the planes keep at a certain hight so their aim is less acurate.
During the the blitz shelters were very important because of the damage of the bombs that germans dropped . There were many different types of shelters: Anderson shelters and Morrison shelters. Anderson shelters were made of metal and had sand bags around them to make them stronger Morrison shelters are almost a cage and can be transformed into a table if you were paid more than £5 a month you had to by a shelter but if you got paid less you got one for free.
