A Letter to Yourself

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

-Carl Jung

To start this week off, you will be writing your senior letters. If you are already a senior, then this will be your first year out of high school letter.

This assignment will count for multiple grades; therefore, you need to take it seriously. I have a particular format for you to follow, so please, do not attempt to jump ahead. I have broken this assignment up into smaller portions. Each day you are responsible for that portion only.

What is a

self-reflection?

Self-reflection

Self-reflection (also known as “personal reflection”) is taking the time to think about, evaluate, and give serious thought to your behaviors, thoughts, attitudes, motivations, and actions.

Why is it important to self-reflect?

Importance

Self-reflecting allows you to analyze your life.

  • You can evaluate the overall course of your life.
  • You can see where you’re headed, determine whether you’re happy with the direction, and make adjustments as necessary.

Directions

You will write a letter to yourself. I will give your letter to you towards the end of your senior year (December or May), or if you are a senior this year, I will mail it to you in May.

This IS a fun but serious project. The more effort that you put into this assignment, the more fun it will be to read at the end of your senior year. You can be as creative as your little heart desires. However, I do have some requirements.

• Document title: Letter to Me

• MLA format

• Each paragraph must be at least SIX sentences.

• Your letter must be at least THREE pages long.

• It MUST be school appropriate.
