People should know cursive writing because it looks better than print. Cursive writing make kids focus on writing and practice hand-eye coordination.
It's your choice to to use it or not. There is nothing wrong with it and it looks really neat and fancy.
How are you going to sign your name if you can't write in cursive?
In a few years no one will need cursive anymore. It's much faster to use a keyboard. It makes it harder to read too.
