Laura Ingalls Wilder was born on February 7,1867 in a log cabin in the big woods of Pepin, Wisconson.
In her childhood, Laura moved around a lot there were also many tragedies that Laura and her family had to overcome like the loss of their brother and a grasshopper plague, until they finally came to settle in De Smet, South Dakota where they suffered 7 months of blizzards and a food shortage.When Laura did go to school, she was usually top of her class. Laura and her father always had a strong pioneer spirit.

When Laura was 18, she married Almanzo Wilder. When she was 19
she gave birth to a girl and she named her Rose after the beautiful wild flower. After Rose things started to go downhill. First, Almanzo came down with diptheria and was left partially paralyzed. Next, their crops were destroyed every year. Then, there was a drought and their son died. Last, there house burnt down. For a while Almanzo and Laura did odd jobs until they earned enough money to move west. Laura and Almanzo finally settled at Rocky Ridge Farm where they grew apple trees.

Adulthood
After Laura, Almanzo and Rose moved to Rocky Ridge Farm, they planted apple trees. Rose wilder went to school and got top of her class, like her mother.
Rose got married to Gillette Lane, who she later divorced. Laura and Almanzo enjoyed spending time at community clubs. At one of the clubs, Laura was asked to write an article for the newspaper, which she gladly accepted.
Later Career
Laura's daughter convinced her to write stories about her childhood. Laura started writing and Rose acted as her editor. Laura called her books The Little House series and they later became a TV show.
On October 23, 1949 Almanzo Wilder died. A few years later Laura Ingalls Wilder died on February 10, 1957, just 3 days after her birthday.
