Solar Energy is the potential Energy of the Sunlight that can be harvested through many means and then used to power our energy-usage here on Earth.
Solar Energy is harvested through many ways, but all of them rely on the thermal energy of the sun which then is used to power our homes.
The probably most common way to harvest Solar Energy that we know is with Solar Panels. The Solar Panels are Panels that allow photons to knock electrons free from the atoms creating a flow of electricity.
These Solar Thermal Cells are very similar to Solar PV Cells with one main difference: They are designed to heat your house and NOT create electricity! This works especially well in places that are colder but whose owners still want the advantages of Solar Energy!
There are many Pros to Solar Energy some of them being:
-Renewable Energy Source
-Reduces Electric Bill
-Low Maintenance Cost (30$-40$)
-Initial Cost is decreasing every day
-Work all year round
In total 80% of the main
components of a Solar
Panel are recycled.
These are the components:
- Cost
-Weather-Dependent
- Solar Energy Storage Is Expensive
-Uses a Lot of Space
1)Solar energy is the most abundant energy resource on earth -- 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strikes the Earth continuously. That's more than 10,000 times the world's total energy use.
2)The space industry was an early adopter of solar technology. In the 1950s, the space industry began to use solar technology to provide power aboard spacecraft. The Vanguard 1 -- the first artificial earth satellite powered by solar cells -- remains the oldest manmade satellite in orbit -- logging more than 6 billion miles.
This map represent the share of primary energy from solar in the 2019.
