Social Science Question

Do individuals have a subconscious reliance on material items to make them happy based on their culture?

The study of Society

"sociology involves the critical analysis of different types of memberships, connections and institutions that constitute society across place and time"

what are some things social scientists look at to study human behavior?

cognitive biases cultural belief systems

Gender

Race

Identifying Human Behavior

Cognitive Biases

Cognitive biases is an error in the way people interpret the world around them.

Cultural belief systems

we are what we have seen growing up what we have been taught. Systems are adopted from a very young age with little to no decision on the individuals control. Because of the difference in cultures we view the world differently from other groups.

Gender, Race, Class

Gender

Race

Class

A division amongst society, economic "status" and a division in society

Roles of men and women are not equal in today's society. Gender unfortunately plays a large part in the decisions individuals make and can influence their biases/

We are born into our race we do not get to choose our race. This means we also cannot control how other races view our own. Many biases and judgments occur because of race.

My question is important in helping advertisers, schools, therapists, government, employers, friends, spouses and so forth figure what makes people happy. The people in direct contact with us in our daily lives. If we can identify

what makes people happy we can find how to build healthier flourishing relationships in all areas of life and social groups.

Why is my question important
