Hinduism

Hinduism, the world's oldest religion, dating back 4,000 years. The Hindu religion has many gods and goddesses. Each has a different attribute in life. Hindus have many temples and used to do many rituals and sacrifices.

Beliefs

Hindus believe in the continuous cycle of reincarnation. They also believe in Karma, the belief of "The sum of one's actions that result in one's future experiences"

Practices

Practices

The Hindu community worships their gods regularly in a temple. A "good" Hindu wouldn't pray in public. That's why many Hindus believe that the home is a sacred place to pray and worship. They also do rituals in honor of their gods

Buddhism

Buddhism

Originated 2500 years ago, Buddhism is one of the world's largest religions. Buddhism started in the fifth century B.C.E when a prince named Siddhartha Guatama saw how human life was suffering. He decided to meditate and live a poor begar. After realizing that he could settle on "The middle way" he reached a state of enlightenment underneath a tree, according to National Geographic.

Beliefs

There are many Buddhist holidays, but the most well known buddhist holiday is Vesak. Vesak is also known as Buddha's birthday. The holiday is celebrated because it commemorates birth, enlightment and death of buddha.

Also, Buddhists do not have a god or a deity. They believe in the soul and how enlightened it could be.

Practices

Practices

Most Buddhists today meditate, study scriptures and take part of cerimonies. Even though buddhism is a very ancient religion from their monestaries to their holidays. Most of their antics have been acknowledged, even today.

Judaism

Judaism

One of the oldest monotheistic religions, dating back to 4000 years ago. Jews believe in one God with "An established coventant"(History.com). They also believe that God rewards people who do good deeds, while also punishing evil. The Jewish bible is called the Torah.

Most Jews believe that their Messiah would come back one day.

They only believe in one God, Yahweh. Also known as the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob/Israel

Judaism Impacted the world with their ideas, one of them that "Humans have the responsibility to stop injustices in the world".

Jews pray in synogouges and other holy places.

Jews reconize the day Shabbat, a day of rest and prayer.

It starts Friday evening and ends Saturday evening

Christianity

Christianity

The most known and practiced religion worldwide dates back to the first century C.E. This monotheistic religion revolves around their Messiah, Jesus Christ of Nazereth. Christians meditate on the word of God, The Holy Bible, and they strive to live the way that the Messiah did while he was on earth.

Belief

Christians believe in the Holy trinity. God the father, Christ the son and the holy spirit. They also believe, just like the jews, that The Messiah would come back one day. Christians believe that their Messiah, Jesus Christ of Nazereth; King of the Jews, died for their sins. They believe in one God, Yahweh, that blesses the people who do good deeds and punishes the people that do bad deeds.

Practices

Some practices include Prayer and worship. Most Christians go to a place called Church every sunday.

Christians acknowledge the Sabbath day, Sunday, of a day of rest. This is because, in the holy bible God created everything in six days and rested on the seventh, which is sunday.

Christians celebrate Easter as the ressurection of Jesus Christ of Nazereth.

The same for Good friday, except Jesus Christ died on Friday and rose on Sunday.

Islam

Islam

Islam being the youngest religion is also the second most practiced. It dates back to the 7th century. This religion believes in One God, the same God in Christianity and Judaism, Yahweh. Their Holy book is the Quaran. Islamic people are very strict with their religion. The religion itself does not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God like Christians do. However, the jews aren't any different.

They believe in one God.

They do not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

They do believe that Jesus would come back one day to convince everyone that he was islam. Islamic people belive in Muhammad who was seen to be a disciple and prophet of God.
