Every year my wife starts to decorate the entire house with Christmas decor after Halloween. It takes her several weeks, and she transitions from Thanksgiving to Christmas with ease. The house ends up looking like a winter wonderland once December rolls around. In addition to the decorating, my family also attends the Nutcracker Ballet every year at Pope Joy Hall. My three boys have not missed a Nutcracker performance, and they especially like intermission where they get to enjoy a hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookie.

On Christmas Eve, we attend mass and my boys perform in the Christmas play. They've performed as the Three Kings, Joseph, and the shepherds. After mass, we go to my mother-in-law's house to enjoy tamales, posole and time with the family. After we fill our belly with New Mexico's traditional Christmas cuisine, the children open gifts and drive the adults crazy. Christmas day is reserved to pajamas, gifts, food, and family. Usually in January, my wife will start to pull down all the Christmas decor which will take several weeks. She is like Taylor Swift singing about her Christmas lights up until January.

We also have a tradition with my boys - we buy matching Christmas PJs every year and wear them OFTEN, but we definitely wear them Christmas morning.

Santa is responsible for filling our Christmas socks, and he gives 1 present to both my kids. It's important for my husband and I to make sure our kids know Santa is real, but Santa isn't responsible for Christmas. We both come from poverty, and school was hard when Santa didn't treat us the same.

I also have this ongoing tradition with my Dad- he used to tell me I'd get rocks if I was bad. He also LOVES chocolate covered cherries. So, when I was close to 5 years old, I wrapped him a box of chocolate cherries, but it was full of rocks. I am now 32 years old, and every year I still wrap up a box of rocks, even with me living away from home.

T-Mobile is all about giving us the ability to show up for our local communities in a big way!
