Seneca Falls Convention

The Seneca Falls Convention was known as the the first American women's right convention. The event was held in the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls, New York. It is estimated that about 300 people attended to this meeting.There were many women and men in the anti-slavery movement that eventually became a part of the fight for women's rights. The organizer Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her husband Henry B Stanton were both known as activist abolonist.

Plessy v. Ferguson

A landmark where the Supreme Court made a decision that upheld the constituitonality of racial segregation under the "seperate but equal" doctrine.In incident in 1892 where an African American train passenger Homer Plessy refused to sit in a car only for black people.Regecting his arguement that his rights wre being violated, the Supreme Court rules that a law that "implies merely a legal distinction" between black and white people was not unconstitutional>
