Mucosal neuroma is a tumor of the facial nerves that appears in the mucous membranes & mdash; that is, soft areas of the skin such as inside the mouth, in and around the lips and under the eyelids. Although mucosal neuromas are not cancerous, their appearance is usually associated with certain types of cáncer.

The neurinoma is an encapsulated tumor that derives from Schwann cells. It is the most frequent nervous tumor in the oral cavity, usually appears more frequently in the tongue. It usually appears in the second or third decade of life, with a predilection towards women. Clinically they present as a circumscribed nodule that is rarely multinodular. The treatment is surgical excision.
