Nigeria has a large population of 213 million people, and it faces a difficult challenge with access to clean water. An estimated 65 million Nigerians lack access to clean drinking water due to various reasons mentioned on previous pages. As a result, their lives are greatly affected in a negative way, and the country's economy is heavily damaged, partly because of the water crisis. Many Nigerians are being forced to thirst, feel fatigued, or consume contaminated water, which often causes waterborne diseases due to the water not being properly filtered. This commonly leads to numerous health issues and even deaths. Furthermore, the economic effects are dangerous. In Nigeria, the average salary is $770 USD, which is significantly lower compared to other countries. Such a disparity in income levels increases the challenges faced by the Nigerian population, further straining their quality of life and hindering economic growth.

The second reason that Nigeria has a scarcity of water is its geography. Nigeria's geography is characterized by water contamination and uneven distribution of water resources; it also lacks bodies of fresh water. Groundwater contamination is very bad for Nigeria because a lot of the villages there rely on groundwater. People will get diseases like hepatitis and dysenstry from drinking contaminated water, which can cause death because of Nigeria's low healthcare. Nigeria's uneven distribution of water resources may cause a lot of people to die of dehydration because one city might be getting a lot of water, but the one next to it might be suffering because they don't have enough water. Nigeria has lots of water bodies, but not a lot of fresh ones, as a lot of them are contaminated, unusable, and unsafe for drinking or any other necessities for a human, like hygiene.

In Nigeria, extreme weather events like droughts and floods have left a trail of devastation, causing lives to be lost, people to be injured, and buildings to be destroyed. Farms are destroyed by the floods, which cause the masses to starve and have trouble finding food. Droughts dry the area out, causing people to be extremely dehydrated, which also causes death and mass fatigue. Droughts dry up water as well as ponds where people get their water, causing it to become more scarce. It also gets increasingly uncommon as farmers who are still growing crops search for water so they can sell the produce and support themselves and the consumers.
