The inciting incident is the part of the story that makes the whole story worth reading. In the book Fish In A Tree, the inciting incident was that she got a new teacher named Mr. Daniels. This was the inciting incident because if Mr. Daniels was not her new teacher, the whole story wouldn't have been the same.
Mr. Daniels is realizing that Ally has a hard time reading and writing. Meanwhile, Ally gets new friends named Albert and Keisha.
Mr. Daniels gives Ally a test to find out if she has dyslexia. When the test comes back positive, Mr. Daniels tells her that it makes learning difficult but that doesn't mean that she isn't intelligent.
Ally and Shay compete to be class president. Ally becomes class president. She is very excited.
Ally is able to read better and it is easier for her, but not completely yet. Travis is going to get help from Mr. Daniels too. The boys that bullied Albert don't bully him anymore. Finally, Ally is student of the month.
