Social, Moral, and Emotional Development

As children enhance their cognitive abilities, they concurrently form self-concepts, social interactions, and attitudes. As parents and guardians, our goal is to nurture socially and emotionally healthy individuals. Children observe and internalize our strengths, weaknesses, abilities, attitudes, and values, shaping their own perspectives. Development starts at birth and evolves through experiences, with self-esteem playing a vital role in evaluating skills. Emotional well-being significantly impacts academic success.

Conservation Test

Observation- Liam

- 5 year-old

- Exhibits cognitive behaviors similar to Piaget's preoperational stage

- Embodies Erikson's theory, which suggests that children's morality is shaped by their surroundings and environment

- Confirming Piaget's theory that children like Liam can understand and internalize their surroundings but may have limitations in understanding reversibility.

Initially, he thought both containers had equal amounts. When the marbles were transferred to a taller container, he believed it had more, confirming Piaget's theory that children at this stage struggle with understanding conservation of quantity due to changes in appearance.
