Eastern Orthodox formed from Christianity in the Roman Empire and continued to be influenced by the people and politics. Because of the origin of development, Eastern Orthodox may have also been referred to as “Byzantium Christianity”. The fall of Constantinople (in the eyes of many followers) really sparked the beginning of Eastern Orthodox while what has left of Rome continued to influence the religion apart from Roman Catholicism.

After the Greek war of Independence in the early 19th-century Ioánnis Kapodístrias began negotiating with the patriarch of the Greek Church of their independance. As a result King Otto I and his Regent, G. L. Maurer, recognized the Greek Church as autocephalous and later independant. John Wesley founded the Methodist movement in the 18th-century with his younger brother Charles Wesley. John was a priest for the Church of England before moving to Georga with his brother for their methodical study of faith, Charles left after staying only a few months in Georga. John was greatly inspired by Martin Luther and his theology.
