Personally, I don't think we NEED GMO's, but they have kind of helped us through the years. Like the GMO corn that could resist pests and herbicides, and a neutral one, like the puppy that glows, or the ruppy. By neutral, I mean that it does not help except maybe if you're letting your ruppy sleep on the bed with you and you need a nightlight.
Herman was the first genetically modified bovine in the world. Scientists spliced a human gene called lactoferrin for an experiment. The scientists were hoping that his female offspring's milk would contain a human milk protein. Even though the milk did have the protein, it was in such low quantity, that there was no point in trying to extract it.
In his final years, Herman started having growths that blocked his joints from moving. When he walked around, you could tell he was in pain. When he laid down he would try to avoid moving his knees, and when he laid down he stayed down for long periods of time before getting back up again. Two cloned cows, Holly and Belle, kept him company for his final years. He was 13 years old when he was put down. There are statues of him everywhere in the Netherlands, like these two.
Transgenic Goat
Animal- Milk can produce BioSteel.
Ice-minus Bacteria
Bacterium- Common name given to a bacteria that will freeze the buds of a flower or crop and destroy it.
Labs- GMOs are commonly used in laboratories for experiments, like Herman the Bull, or Knockout Mice.
Farms- corn and other crops are genetically modified to withstand herbicides and pesticides.
Your Home- You are commonly using GMOs in everyday life, that is, if you feel like the GMOs are th worst thing on Earth. You could have eaten steak that was from a buffed up cow, or you have a pet glofish.
