What are the Artifacts?

Communication Artifacts are expressions of human thought. Through them we communicate with other people nonverbally.

« forms of decorative ornamentation that are chosen to represent self-concept like rings, tattoos, from brand names and logos to clothes, cars, watches, briefcases, purses, and even eyeglasses, what we choose to surround ourselves with communicates something about our sense of self. »

EFFECTS

OF COLOURS

Several researches have proved that colours DO affect the mood. This fact can help choose the right colour for a non verbal artifact of communication to improve the way managers convey a message.

IN BRIEF

Conclusion

  • We could not summarize all the existing artifacts as there are too many of them in different cultures but we thought those were the most visible and common ones.

  • Artifacts play a significant part in non verbal-communication as they express the population's thought, social status or mood.

  • Once you know how artifacts influence others perception of you, you can control it and adapt it to the message you are conveying or the person you are talking to.
