Learning through others stories- books, TV, film, conversations.
I learn through doing and through working collaboratively with others.
A variety of ways to learn including though listening to others and their stories, through applying my knowledge, through teaching what I know.
This one is fairly hard for me as I have never been overly connected to my ancestors or culture.
Things I do know are the importance of relationships and compassion.
Being connected to the earth and respecting the earth. ->I feel most at peace when I am out in nature.
Symbols that speak most to me are ones that encourage justice and peace for humans and the environment.
Being connected to the land through biking, hiking, being out in nature, being a vegetarian. Learning from others on the land- gardening, medicines, etc.
Some of my parents values now contradict my own values- which I had to decide, as I grew up.
I learn through a multitude of ways- through dialogue with others and for others, through reading lived experiences, through creating lessons, from my students.
Communal experiences- living with others, experiencing life with one another, understanding that community is important and it is our responsibility as a society to ensure others are taken care of.
Looking at the big picture- and making small changes within that picture.
Nearly all of my teaching in the last 5 years has been linked to the community- how can we make our communities more linked and help make changes within them?
I focus on community living. I have a chosen family and community that I thrive within.
My daughter is being raised in a community of people who love her and are intentional in their actions with her.
