Household in Ancient China

In an ideal Chinese home, tree generations the Grandparents, Parents, and children of the same family live under the same roof. The parents would choose who you marry, and when you get married the wife has to move in with the husband family. The husband would work while the wife stays home and does things such as chores, cook, take care of the children, Ect.
Marriage in Ancient China
Marriage
In ancient China the parents and matchmakers. Men and women would go into marriage without knowing eachother. Two familys of equal social status often married their children together. Marriage was set at 16 for men and 14 for women. It was bad luch to date or marry someone 3 or 6 years from you, older or younger. It was illegal for a man to have more than one wife at a time.
Women in Ancient China
Womens roles were mostly kinship roles such as, daughter, sister, wife, daughter in-law, mother, and mother in-law. Wome are expected to exel in theese four ares: fedelity, cautious speech, industriouness, and graceful manors. They had to obey their fathers, husbands, and sons. They could not work when married they had to stay home and do the chores.

Mistreated
Many women were abused by their husbnads, fathers, and any other male family members. Women were concidered much less valuble than men. Women had much less power than men did. Women had to look a certain way for men to marry them. Women barley had any rights, while men had many. Women were only concidered pretty is they had an oval face. willow leaf eyebrows, long thin eyes, small lips, and a slim fragile looking body. Women were not aloud to recive any education or pursue any carreer.
