Basketball is a sport where there is 10 people on the court at the same time (5 on each team), you get the ball and shoot it into your basketball hoop.

Teams

There are 30 teams in the NBA (National Basketball Association), but only 1 winner! Every team is on the picture below! 15 teams are in a division called the Western Conference and the other 15 are in another conference called the Eastern Conference. The top 8 teams in each conference make it into the playoffs, which gives them a chance win it all! Each team plays 82 games, 41 at home and 41 away. Also, every team has there own stadium in there city (except for a few teams in the same city, they share a stadium).

The picture down below shows some of the best present day players. Some of them are Lebron James, Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, Kawhi Leanord and many other greats! Every player gets drafted on to a team to play for them. They sign a contract to play for that team for a certain amount of years. After those years are up, they can resign a contract or get traded to another team to play for them. When you sign the contract you also make a deal to see how much money they pay you for the amount of time you play for that team.

Rules

The picture down below is the offical rules of the NBA. Some simple rules is there are 4 quarters in a game and each quarter is 10 minutes. Each team has 6 timeouts during the course of a 48 minute game. For the rest of the rules, read them down below. There are 10 people on the court at a time, 5 on each team. Also NBA teams must maintain 12 active players on their roster during the regular season. Teams can carry 11 players on the active roster, but for no more than two consecutive weeks.
