The jesuit priests served as nurses at sick bay in 1629.

3 Augustinian nuns established the first nursing mission known as Hotel-Dieu, Quebec's first hospital in 1639

"Grey Nuns" was formed in 1738 by Marguerite d'Youville. They engaged in many activities in order to provide care.

In 1844, four grey nuns travelled to Manitoba where they cared for people in epidemics.

In 1859, group of grey nuns travelled to St. Boniface where they established a health care system to care for sick and Indigeneous people.
