Revolutions are very large and obvious changes that affect lots of people quickly. Some people think that revolutions can make life better but the reason why evolutions can end up with violence is because some people don't want change. In this presentation we'll talk about the different revolutions.
A social revolution is when some members of a society think and feel that society is not benefiting everyone, so they create a change. Social revolutions can create a number of issues such as religious beliefs, equality, and environmentalism.
Before the black death, peasant farmers would grow their crops on parts of the lords manors land. But this was not efficient. But after the black death, farmers would now be wage earners which meant they would make money. Larger farms replaced the small ones with single crops grown in them to be sold. Farmers would also use new farming techniques to improve with farming. These changes and developments became the basis of the Agricultural Revolution in the 18th century.
A religious revolution causes human activity that makes sudden radical change quickly which makes a giant effect on society. It makes an even larger effect when most people in the society support the same religion.
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther put his 95 theses on the door on the All Saints Church. When Luther saw that on the door, he was unhappy with the failings of his church, so he decided to make a public action to call for a change. Because of the press, he was able to spread the news quickly. With new ideas, protestants agreed to highlight the importance of the bible, so they decided to let people read the bible in their own desired language.
A political revolution is where a political structure in a society becomes removed in which is affects a national scale and it can affect the entire society. A political revolution can cause problems such as poverty, oppression, and unemployment.
Before the Reformation, the pope had complete control over kingdoms. But after the Reformation, the kings were now free from the authority of the pope, so they took the opportunity to become supreme authority of their kingdoms.
An economic revolution has a fundamental change which means that it would affect the way people in the society buy and sell goods. (As well as services)
When the Europeans would go on voyages, they would seek new routes to Southeast Asia which was where they got their luxury items such as silks and spices. During one of their trips, they accidentally found two completely unknown continents we now call North and South America. When 1492 came, Columbus’ voyages would lead to lasting contact between the Europeans and the Americans. In the 16th century, Europeans would start seeing the rest of the world to be a source of wealth and power for their own nations. Because of this, the Europeans had taken full control of these sources of wealth and created colonial empires with it. Higher wealth is gained when they would either increase a nation’s colonial possession, or by trying to acquire other nation empires by force.
A cultural revolution is when a bunch of individuals start to practice their creativity in a completely different way. The word culture basically means creative activities such as art, literature, and music.
During the renaissance, literature had also been a departure from medieval styles, where the only focus was basically just about religious matters. Authors had now started to write about some historical events and their everyday lives while poets started to create sonnets about love. They had also written in books that teach thinking and acting. Books had been beginning to be written for a farther wide audience which made people more people become literate. Authors would make their books from Latin to all languages so work would be much more accessible for everyone.
A technological revolution is where people change the way they use technology in their lives. This also includes machinery that can create goods on a large scale, such as assembly lines that are automatic, or personal devices that start to become smaller and more efficient such as phones or laptops.
When 1543 came, a former Polish astronomer named Nicholas Copernicus came up with a theory that the sun was in the middle of the solar system. His theory was accepted by the Catholic Church. This theory was accepted because it could make calendars possible to exist. In 1609, Galileo Galilei a former Italian astronomer had used a telescope to identify if the theory was true. But through observation, he realized that is theory wasn’t a theory but instead it was a fact. Galileo published these findings in both 1610 and 1632. The Catholic Church thought he was challenging the Bible and Churches, so the Church banned Galileo’s writings and silenced him.
A scientific revolution is where a theory or new idea radically changes the way that science works. In general, science is just ideas and discoveries.
In the 17th century, Francis Bacon a former philosopher and a English scientist had created a method to use for scientific research. To this day, we now know his method as the scientific method. 2000 years ago, there was a problem for doctors where they couldn’t find out how a human body circulates blood. But in the year 1628, William Harvey an anatomist and a English physician had used Francis Brown’s method to find out how blood would circulate through a human body. This has solved the problem for doctors. Another time in the 1660’s there was a man named Isaac Newton that had used his method as well. He used this method to create the laws of gravitation and motion which made it much easier to understand the earth and the solar system. Isaac Newton had believed that because of the discovery he had found could eventually unlock everything about the world.
