Quadrant A

e)Introducing someone to another person- Facial expressions and hand motions can be used. This is a common social occurrence.

l)Points to items in the classroom- requires no verbal language and is highly contextual because the objects are present.

b)Conducting a science experiment- This may be difficult, but there will be more clues with using materials given. Teacher will use scaffolding tools to better assist the student.

h)Watches a movie with academic content- The actual content can make this more cognitively demanding while the media presentation can provide context clues.

i)Acts out a historical event- This can be a cognitively demanding activity for the student to demonstrate their understanding of an event. Using facial expression, and body language can give clues to the student's understanding.

j)Uses the text as evidence for a position during debate- Being able to use text evidence to support an opinion is cognitively demanding. Using the text can help students with language clues.

c)Talking on the telephone- This conversation can be simple, yet lack clues without facial expressions or hand motions.

g)Uses the computer or finding information- Technology is a form of resource that is universal across the languages. It allows for students to access the computer and find information easily.

a)Listening to a lecture on the atom- The atom is a complex subject. There are few context clues with a lecture depending on if there are diagrams included.

d)Taking a standardized achievement test- Most standardized tests will not have pictures to show context.

f)Reading a chapter in a textbook and answering comprehension questions- There may be some diagrams or pictures for context clues, but answering comprehension questions will take detailed understanding.

k)Writes short paragraphs- Where students are given scaffolded writing tools. For example, visual aids, graphic organizers, and model /demonstrate.
