There will come a time in almost every teens life where they will be around or offered drugs and alcohol. Some are lucky enough to not have that peer persure around them. However the sad truth is that most teens are being offered drugs and alcohol by there very own classmates. As teens often social media has made the use of drugs and alcohol to be romantazied. There could be many factors that play in the choice you make when offered to take even one shot or one hit as a teen. It could be internal presssures or external pressures that lead any teen to making the decision to use any substance. If you, a friends, or anyone close to you is abusing alcohol, drugs, or any other illegal substances GET HELP.
At this age we should never be investing our time in things that won't serve us in the long run! Drinking alcohol at such a young age will only put you at a higher risk of having significant damage to your brain function. The earlier you start this spiral, the more likely you are to experiance an impact on your memory, school performance, risky behavior, and ulimatly leading you to commite more mistakes that could affect you later on in adulthood. Short term effects could be heachachs, vommiting, difficulty breathing, anemia, inpairded judgment, and blackouts. Long term effects could be alcohol poisining, brain damage, perminate brain/nerve damge, malnutrition, but ultamitly affects the people around you. When a person around you if suffering with alcoholism it puts a strain on those who are closest to them. Alcohol impairs physical and cognitive functions/capablities, and this will lead for there to ne neglect in your work and/or school which could be an added stressor to those closest to you.
As teenagers there will come times where we will be offered any type of substance and saying "no" is the first step in living your best substance free life. Society has made drinking to become a norm for kids in high school, but more now than ever is is time to break that cycle. From the ages of 16 to 17 fewer than 1 in 5 teenagers reported to drinking, fewer than 1-10 of those reported a bringe drinking. If one of your friends ask you to take a hit or a shot say NO! 60% of teenage deaths have had been caused from driving under the influence. Saying no could save your own life and those around you. SAY NO!
The use of tabacco or now more popular within teens vapes has caused over 3 million of middle to highschoolers. Nicotine makes the brain tigger its dopaine levels increase which is your brains reward system. It makes you fee rewarding while it is truly harming your body. DON'T LET IT FOOL YOU! Some short term effects are increase heart rate, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, tightens airway, and increases mucus levels. All of these short term effects lead to much larger issues later in life. Some long term effects are reduces your life spam, developing cancer, stroke, developing type 2 diabetes, weakens immune system, and developing mental heath issues.
In society today marijauna (weed), pills, and other illegal subtances have become a lot more accessable to teenagers. A rise in addiction to these highly addictive substances within teens. Just Like tabacco these substances stimulate your reward center in your brain. DON'T LET IT FOOL YOU! Trying any of these substances will lead to addiction. Some short term effects are relaxsation, drowsiness, indifference to emotion and physical pain. etc. Long term effects are addiction, paranoia, long term insomnia, extreme weight loss, and overdose.
There are so many recorces to get the help you need to live substance free. Talk to a trusted adult. It not worth getting introuble at school and losing your privlages weither that be playing your sport, losing a scholarship, or getting in legal trouble.

While in high school you have a community willing to help you. It all starts with you wanting to give or seek that help. If your firends around you are in need suggest resources to them like talking to a trusted adult like a favortie teacher, counciler, or a coach. Suggesting another plan when offered to go to that party, that kickback, or that hangout where you know any substance will be at.
