Mountain

The mountain from the novel has a symbolic meaning because it is the highest point of the island. Because it is the pinnicle of attention, the boys decide it is the place where they should place a fire to call for help. There is an argument throughout the book because of Jack's irresponsiblity in letting the fire go out. It is later stolen from Jack and Piggy's glasses are also stolen to light the fire. In addition, this is the place where Simon was killed because the boys had gone there to kill the supposed beast.

Simon's Area

Simon's Area

Simon's nature area is desribed as being not that far from the beach shore. It is surrounded by trees with flowers and branches that are depicted as creepers. This area has a scent of auroma that he finds enticing and the branches and leaves are later used to light the fire. It was a dark place where he hid when he needed space and time away from the boys. This description is depicted in chapter 3. Once the pig is killed, it is later pushed down against a stick sharpended at both edges and its head is designated for the beast. It is located in Simon's area without them realizing that is where he spent his alone time.

Castle Rock & Piggy's Death

Castle Rock

This rock mountain is like a fortress and Jack and his hunters take it as a shelter. It have large boudlers at the top of the mountain which they can drop with levers, just in case an attack takes place. It also has cave like structures which they can stay at, sleep, and hang out. The way they can go up the mountain is with a path that the mouintain already has. Many events occurred in this area. For instance, Piggy was crushed by a boulder, when Roger pulled the lever. Also, Ralph and Jack fight on this fortress because they were fighting for the right to be chief.
