Project 2

Journal 7

Take this in-class writing time to reflect on your experience with writing and completing Project 1. You may discuss: what parts of your essay you are proud of, where you would want to improve, what aspects of writing were easy and/or difficult, and how writing this essay changed or reaffirmed your writing process.

Finally, consider what skills you were supposed to learn and take away from this first project.

Project 2 (2,000 Words)

Project 2

This is an analysis piece. This essay asks you to engage in a critical analysis of an artifact or genre that has played an important role in your life. These might include particular categories of music, books, magazines, comics, social networking, TV shows, movies, songs, videos, stand-up comedy, talk shows, podcasts, pages of social media platforms, etc. A successful essay will blend the analytical with the personal. You should be critical about how this specific genre or artifact has affected you, as well as what your choice may reveal about you as an individual. You should share with your reader why and how this genre or artifact is significant to you while using basic research and citation to support your assertions.

Past Paper Topics Include:

  • How Disney's Beauty and the Beast inspired a student to love reading

  • How sports films fostered a student's passion for sports management as a career.

  • How MMO games helped a student develop lasting friendships with international players.
