What is Theme Based Learning

What is theme based learning?

It is when a classroom orginizes a theme so that students can apply what they know about this theme, and what interests them, to what they are learning.

Students who learn with the theme based style learn about topics that are meaningful and relavant to their own lives which is "intrinsic motivation". Students are then learning because they want to, and it intrests them, not becasue they have to.

A teacher who is teaching this style of learning is who pics the theme and who designs the curriculum. The teacher is in charge so if the style of the theme is not working for the students, then it is their responsibility to have a theme that makes the students excell

Results indicate that the embedding themes across an entire coarse can be a sucessful way to improve students preception of their learning and comfort learning about new subjects.
