Herbivores:

Herbivores

Camels are herbivores becasue they eat desert vegetation. Some foods include grass, herbs, and leaves. This allows them to survive in the desert since there are not many food options available to the animals that live there.

This adaptation is Behavioral

Behavioral

Body Temperature:

Body Temperature

A camels body teperature changes throughout the day. This action allows the camel to save water by not sweating. The camels temperaure typically changes from 93 degrees F to 107 degrees F.

This adaptation is physiological

Physiological

Nostrils, Eyebrows, and Ears:

Nostrils, Eyebrows, Ears

In the camel, the nostrils, eyebrows, and ears all play the same role. They each help the camel in the desert conditions. The Nostrils (which close) and the Ears (which are covered in hair) keep the sand from getting into the camel. The eyebrows (which are very thick) shield the eyes from the sun. This allows the camel to walk around the desert to find food and other camels, without getting hurt.

This adaptation is Structural.

Structural

Thick Lips:

The camels thick lips allow it to eat the desert plants and not feel pain. Without having thick lips, the camels would not be able to eat food in the desert.

Thick Lips

This adaptation is strucutural.

Hump

hump

Camels store fat in their hump, NOT WATER! The fat is stored for energy when foos sources are low

Blood cells

Blood

cells

their redblood cells are shaped like an ovals not like any other blood cell. this is so the blood flow can continue even when in a dehydrated state.

Physiological

long eyelashes

camels have long eyelashes to block out the sun from their view

Structural

wide feet

camels have wide feet so they don't sink into the sand and also they are rough so they don't burn their feet.

Camels live in the hot dessert full of sand, cacti, and different kind of plants. the strucure of their body and behaviors help then survive in this hot enviorment. since the dessert is limited in food they are are herbivors, they also have thick hair and skin to block out the sun and sand.
