Facts and Theme
One of the most important themes is to never give up. In the begining of the book Jessie lost her mother. She had to move to Los Angeles but even if she wanted to go back home or procrastinate she didn't. This theme also comes into play when she is looking for SN or when she goes back home. As well as when she is dealing with her crush.
This theme is used mostly to explain Jessie's living situation. She had to adjust to living with her stepmother and her family. Jessie also learned valuable lessons from her best friend Scarelet. Jessie also ends up making new friends and gettting a boyfriend. Overall Jessie did not want to change her lifestyle at all. She wanted to stay in Chicago and live her life the way it was but it all worked out for the better.
When Jessie tries to find out who SN is she begins to question the people around her. Jessie began to think that it could be multiple people, or that it could be girl. Jessie also suspected three different guys. Each time Jessie would suspect a person, she got in over her head. She even made some of her friendships awkward after this.
Excerpt
"Seven Hundred and thirty-three days after my mom died, forty-five days after my dad eloped with a stranger he met on the Internet, thirty days after we then up and moved to California, and only seven days after starting as a junior at a brand-new school where I know approximately no one, an email arrives. Which would be weird, an anonymous letter just popping up like that in-box, signed with the bizarre alias Somebody Nobody, no less, except, my life has become so unrecongnizable lately that nothing feels shocking anymore. It took until-now seven hundred and thirty-three whole days in which I've felt the opposite of normal- for me to discover this one important life lesson: turns out you can grow immune to weird."
