Trite symbolism

Presented by

Mrs. Meczywor

We will understand communication through the use of symbolic language.

Lesson Objective #1

symbols

Through symbols, we are able to communicate with people that might not speak our language. If you texted someone in Japan a smiling emoji, they would understand that. Maybe you are just short on time, and you simply reply with a thumbs up emoji when your friend asks about your report card grades. Symbols can make our communication with others easier and faster.

symbols

  • Symbol is a thing that represents or stands for something else .
  • Symbols are good for communication purposes, but not for artwork.
  • Overused symbols are not art. They lack creativity; someone has already used it.

We can brainstorm original artwork ideas, avoiding the use of trite symbolism.
