In my beginning years at Saint Aloysius I was not familiar with Social Justice. That was until my wonderful teacher organized my class' project. Which was blessing bags. Those included a note, a bottle of water, food, and a tooth brush. I now after 4 years I think that was the perfect way to introduce me to that concept.
When I was in First Grade I was little more prepared for my project. We didn't do any thing in particular. We pretty much focused on the CRS rice bowl. That made me very thankful for my family, school and home.
When I was really familiar with Social Justice my class held a hygiene drive for Our Place Ministries. It was pretty simple, we were told to bring basic hygiene items. Simple to me, but not to the people getting those items. That made me feel good because I was helping those in need.
In third grade my class planned to sing Irish hymns and carols at the academy with our teacher Mrs. Mclane. Unfortuneately her wonderful husband passed away, so she couldn't make it.
The reason we did that for our project is because a lot of the residents didn't have families or they never visited them. That made me very happy to see a lot of happy faces. Also while we were walking through the Acadamy we said hello to some of the elderly.
In fourth grade we did a lot of things. We visited the Salvation army, we wrote letters to the president to keep the law that we can not poach elephants, and donated money to Generation Alive to help our community.
I'm going let my friends tell you about 5th grade.
