Hippogriff

The hippogriff is a creature who lived many years in the wizardry world hidden from muggles (non wizard folks) in the highlands of Scotland. Breeding this magical creature is a career that had been around for a long time. Originally the hippogriff was a horse like creature with an large Eagle head. Along with the eagle head a small portion of the population had tiny wings on the body and claw like front legs. The diet of the Hippogriff consisted of insects, small birds and worms. SInce most of the population only had the legs of a horse it was harder for them to catch prey. Eventually HIppogriffs with the wings and front claws had a better chance of surviving when the population of insects and birds went down. Hippogriffs with the front claws were able to catch and kill bigger prey, and with the wings few hippogriffs were able to fly and get a variety of locations faster to hunt. The hippogriffs without these features eventually reproduced less and less as hippogriffs with wings and claws reproduce more. After thousands of years hippogriffs with the adaptations made up 100% of the population.

The Hippogriff before Evolution

95% of the population of the Hippogriff has the complete body of a horse and the head of a eagle. The other 5% has the body of a horse but with head wings and front claws of the eagle. The main sorce of food was insects, small birds and worms.

The Hippogriff before Evolution

Selective pressure

Due to an increase of predator population there was more of a competition for food. With the Hippogriffs usual food choices dying off or migrating to other habitats that better help their survival, not many hippogriffs got enough food to survive. Fortuntly Hippogriffs with claws are able to catch and kill bigger prey. over many generations HIppogriffs with wings and claws reporoduce more because they have a better survival rate. Eventually there will only be HIppogriffs with wings and claws.
