Gordie
- Gordie is the main protagonist in the story, he is independent and lotal to his friends. He has quite a passion for writing and feels invisible since his brother passed away and his brother was the golden child.

-Ace is the antagonist in Stand by Me. He wanted to find the body and threatend the group of boys when he found them there. He is a bully and leader to the people in his si called "gang"

- Teddy is said to be the crazy friend in the group. He is charasmatic and typically tries to make light of dark situations. He struggles with a ftehr who takes his PTSD out on him, but still admires him for fighting in the army. He later ended up in prison for sometime but when he got out an worked some odd jobs.
Vern
- Vern is the character who originally wanted to go hunt for the body and ended up finding the body first. He has a lot of comedic relief scenes in the movie. He is gentle and their for his friends. He has a clumsy and nervous personality.
Chris
- Chris is seen as the tough friend. He is the closest with Gordie. He comes from a family of rough people and it affects his reputation.
He eventually turned himself around and went to law school but eventually got stabbed and killed.
