- loss is a normal part of life, we can't go through life without it.

- the good news is that small losses prepare us for big losses - like having a goldfish or losing a toy

- stages of meaning plus one - 1950's Kubler-Ross, recent David Kessler. Not exhaustive, just an idea, but useful. Another model is the knot which looks at the complexity of grief and how it meanders rather than is linear.

- taking care - you've got to do it, there is no shortcut through grief, no free pass. And there is no shame in it.
