A Further Look into the digestive system

Digestive System

Into the mouth

In the mouth our teeth break down food into digestible pieces. Our saliva also breaks down more food just too make sure that it is all digested. A specific enzyme that is in our saliva called a Amylase enzyme breaks down starches into monosaccharides which actually means a simple sugar.

Into The Mouth

Into the esophagus

As the food is swallowed it is called pharynx. After pharynx the food goes into a opening and it is now in the esophagus. In the esophagus the muscles contract and squeezes the food down too the stomach.

The esoughagus

The stomach

This is where the food get mixed and breaked down. A thing called hydrochloric acid helps to digest food chemically and protects the body by killing bacteria. .Some water, specific vitamins and some medications are absorbed in the stomach.

Into the Small intestine

The small intestine does a whole lot of work for the digestive system. The biggest job that it does is when the nutrients are absorbed into our bloodstream. The small intestine secretes digestive enzymes and moves contents by peristalsis, villi is the folding of the small intestine. The walls of the small intestine create a substance that is like a juice that produces enzymes that eventually work with the liver and the pancreas.

Into The Small intestine

Into the large intestine

The large intestine absorbs water and salt from the things that are not fully digested. It also is where electrolytes are recovered.

Into The Large intestine

The pancreas, gallbladder and liver

The main job of the liver is too regulate chemical levels in the blood too produce a thing called bile. Bile breaks down fats into fatty acids. The gallbladder stores, concentrates and releases bile. The pancreas helps to control sugar levels. Another one of its jobs is to break down the foods you eat. It helps digestion by producing a special tonic made of water, sodium bicarbonate
