What is the Vietnam war?

The Vietnam war also known as the Indochina war, was between north and south Vietnam. North Vietnam was supported by the soviets, china and other communist countries and the south was supported by united states and other anti-communist countries and it was considered in the cold war-era. It lasted almost 20 years and with direct U.S involvement ending in 1973. The conflict also spilled over into neighboring states, exacerbating the Laotian Civil War and the Cambodian Civil War, which ended with all three countries becoming communist states by 1975.

Having rebuilt their forces and upgraded their logistics system, North Vietnamese forces triggered a major offensive in the Central Highlands in March 1975. On April 30, 1975, NVA tanks rolled through the gate of the Presidential Palace in Saigon, effectively ending the war.
