I. Landforms

A. West African countries include Benin,

Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia,

Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia,

Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, & Togo

B. All countries in W. Africa have territory in the

African Transition Zone- changes from desert to

tropical savanna (Sahel)

C. largely a tropical region w/ a landscape that

includes desert, shoreline, low plains,

highlands, & rain forests

mangrove swamps,

lagoons, and broad coastal plains.

E. Lagoons are shallow bodies of water that
