Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor and commercial sex act.

Human Trafficking

Child Soldiers

Children as young as 10 are being approached by recruiters. Possibly taken against their will, made to work a variety of jobs in the military.

Child Soldiers

Domestic Servitude

Usually happens to people who have just arrived at another country. Supposed to be everyday help but they are taken advantage of and controlled.

Domestic Servitude

Forced Labor

Employed against their will. Most likely told to do tedious and hardworking tasks. The victims are under threat by their employers due to their circumstances.

Forced Labor

Recruitment

Recruitment

Victims are transported, transferred, and hidden in order to be later attacked.

Forms of Recruitment:

-Kidnapping

-Coercion

-False job/education offer

Sex Trafficking

Kidnap or convince the victims to go with them. The victims then are sold to someone or multiple people in order for the gain of money.

Sex Trafficking

Compared to Slavery

Human trafficking is the form of modern day slavery. The victims are mostly taken at a young age and forced to do work for long hours that no one should have to. They are taken advantage of, treated like property, and left with longer lasting health issues because of what they went through.

Human Trafficking

United States v. Mendez-Hernandes

In this case in 2014, a man took advantage of women coming to the U.S by promising them a good life, but then made them perform around 50 sex acts a day. This is relevant because foreigners or people who want to get to a different country are often taken advantage of or promised something before they are taken and trafficked.
