Explanations
As I look back at old pictures from my baptism, Easter mass with my family, and attending a Catholic grade school, I can't help but feel grateful for my Roman Catholic faith. These experiences have played a crucial role in shaping my spiritual journey and have given me a deep appreciation for the traditions and teachings of the Church. Being raised in a Catholic family and attending a Catholic school helped me to understand the importance of prayer, community, and service to others. Through the teachings of the Church, I learned the value of forgiveness, compassion, and love for all people. Through my pictures, I could see the love I have for God through my smile and the love of God being shown to me through my three brothers.
The first time I ever got to truly be indulged in my faith was when I played angel Gabriel in the school production of Jesus' birth. I remember feeling nervous about having such a big role, but I could feel the presence of God with me throughout the whole play. It was a small role, but it was my first experience of being part of something that was so important to my faith. I also remember the time when I visited an old church in Ireland, where I felt a sense of connection to the roots of my religion. Even though the church was ruined there were peaceful surroundings that helped me feel closer to God. And of course, I'll never forget the day I made my first communion. It was a special moment for me, and I felt like I was finally becoming a true member of my church. These experiences have all been significant milestones in my faith journey as a Roman Catholic.
While looking back on my adolescence, I learned I have had many opportunities to grow my faith. Being a faith family leader at my grade school allowed me to serve and guide the kids in the grades below me through their faith, which in turn strengthened my own beliefs. Through my friend group, I was able to see God's love and grace in their actions toward others, and this reminds me of the importance of living out my faith in everyday life. The experience that had the most profound impact on me was the Kairos retreat. It was a time when I was able to disconnect from the world and focus on my relationship with God. I found a deeper understanding of what God meant to me and how I wanted to live my life by my faith. Overall, my Catholic faith has been a source of comfort and strength over the years and it is something I plan to hold onto throughout my life.
